What Students Say

What our students and fellow instructors are saying:

An Extremely Talented Horsewoman in her own Right
To Whom it May Concern:

I highly recommend Jordan Falcouner to deal with your problem warmblood mare. Jordan is mature well beyond her years, and is an extremely talented horsewoman in her own right. I have been very impressed with her natural talent as well as her capability as a student. Jordan is also very calm and patient and would never do anything to take away the dignity from a horse. She is a wonderful rider, and I know could handle whatever situation your horse puts in front of her.

Naturally,

"What I witnessed changed my entire perception of how to deal with horses"
I sought out Nancy after my farrier suggested I contact her to train one of my boarding client’s horses. This horse had been “rescued” and brought to my farm basically skin and bones. He spent two years getting fat and sassy and really didn’t turn out to be the kids’ horse my client was hoping for. When I approached Nancy, she was very agreeable and within a short time she had an opening for a training horse. Since she lives within a couple of miles of my farm, the day after I took him over to her, I went to watch her work Cody.
What I witnessed that day change my entire perception of how to deal with horses. I had never, in my 30+ years of dealing with horses, seen anyone be so patient with a horse. I left in tears, knowing we had sent Cody to exactly the right place. I was back two days later to watch another training session and knew that I needed Nancy to help me and my 19yr old QH that I’d had since a 4 year old. My plans for him included low leveling eventing and dressage. Eight years ago he suffered a horrendous injury and while I took the time to carefully rehabilitate him and he recovered beyond my expectations, I had begun to lose confidence in my abilities and his. Then I had two rather significant horse related injuries, the last one 2 years ago when Pudden spooked and I came off fracturing 2 ribs. This, after a significant concussion the year before, put me in a place of fear. I loved my horse, but I was terrified of getting hurt. And that just made matters worse.
I have spent the last four months learning that I have caused all kinds of issues for my horse. I have learned that the stories I have told myself to explain my horse’s rude, aggressive, and disrespectful behavior are pure fantasy. I have had to own a lot of responsibility for his behavior and Nancy has helped me with this in the kindest way. She has an incredible ability to help me understand my role in all of this WITHOUT me getting stuck in the past. And, the results are amazing and really hard to believe that they have happened so quickly.
I have been teaching at the University level for 25+ years. Many of my riding instructors over the years have commented on how difficult a student I am – teaching a teacher can be challenging. I’m not a problem for Nancy; she is so comfortable, confident, and knowledgeable that I don’t threaten or intimidate her. Her ability to work with the student that shows up is just as good as her ability to work with whatever horse is in front of her.
I have sung her praises so much that one of my boarders has just recently started working with her. I watched them work yesterday and realized that she is consciously tailoring each lesson to the needs of both the horse and rider. My challenges aren’t hers, so why should the lessons be the same? I’m envious because this boarder doesn’t have near the baggage to deal with that I do with my horse and the progression she’s made in two weeks took me several months!
Nancy is a true professional. She knows what she’s doing and she gets results. Cody, the horse I sent to her, is now being used as a lesson horse. You could not have told me that was a possibility 6 months ago! Pudden, my horse, no longer has “evil ears”. He no longer molests me for treats the entire way back to the barn from the pasture. He comes to me and all but puts the halter on himself (I cannot tell you the number of hours I’ve spent stalking that horse though the pasture the last couple of years). In addition to the results, Nancy is a professional in her demeanor and teaching style. She shows up on time, dressed appropriately, and ready to roll. She’s encouraging, clear with her instructions, and able to adapt to the needs of that day. And this ability to adapt cannot be overstated. I’m guessing she comes with a general plan, but if either me or Pudden need something else, then that’s what we do.
Linda and Pat, you have put together an amazing program and rest assured, you are represented very well in our little neck of the woods with Nancy Faulkner. I have no doubt you have heard many stories similar to mine, and I thank you for taking the time to read mine. I’m not sure who’s happier I found Nancy, me or Pudden, but the positive impact she has had on both of us is huge!
May the horse be with you,

Re: Nancy & Jordan Faulconer

It is not often that I write to express my respect and admiration for a horse trainer (s). With that being said I find myself truly and overly impressed by both Nancy Faulconer & Jordan Faulconer. We at Georgia Equine Rescue League found ourselves with 9 untrained horses in our program. We came up with the idea of the GERL Rescue Challenge where our 9 foster horses were to be trained by 9 Georgia Trainers. This was major undertaking for all the trainers, they had 120 days to ready their horses for a showcase November 15, 2014. None of the trainers were reimbursed for any training or board. Beginning July 18, 2014 Nancy and Jordan were selected to train 2 of our Rescue Challenge horses. Because of their background with horses it was a very easy decision. All horses were matched up through a drawing to a trainer. They picked up their project horses and were on their way home to begin the training process. Nancy drew Rocky (re named Tony the Pony). Rocky is a 3-year-old pony standing 13 hands. He was in our program for 2.5 years. While Rocky was in our foster program he was considered a lead and feed. Because of Rocky’s size most trainers might not have been very happy drawing such a small horse. But not Nancy the larger (or in this case smaller) the challenge the more focused she becomes. Within days, Rocky was accepting Nancy and his new environment. Standing on pedestals, learning to lie down, responding to the lead and lunge line. Nancy had Rocky accepting her leadership and was a totally different pony. You see Rocky even though gelded showed some over the top studish behavior. Within weeks Rocky was being ridden by Nancy and her lesson students, being taken to shows, going on trail rides. Rocky left his fear well behind and just went forward with the special training of Nancy. September 15 was the date chosen to showcase
the Challenge Horses. Rocky arrived at the show grounds without a hair turned and a quite demeanor. He preformed all the phases, in hand, obstacles and free style like a 10 year old been there done that pony. He however only had 120 days of training. Rocky preformed in hand and the obstacles by Nancy’s students. During the showcase Rocky was shown again by her students. Rocky didn’t take a bad step and showed so well he was sold during the Challenge. More than 300 hours of training was given to Rocky.
Jordan drew Halle Berry a 3-year-old filly that was found wandering the streets and taken into our foster program. Halle was also considered a lead and feed horse because of her weight and trust issues. Halle in our program gave of moment of wonder, as she was so hard to catch and shunned any type of contact. Her foster worked hard to get Halle to trust. So you can image my “fear” of sending Halle to someone new. Well Jordan picked Halle up on the 18 of July.
Jordan wasted no time with Halle. Seems these two girls had a great connection and it was proven to me very quickly indeed. Jordan had Halle under saddle in what I thought was remarkable time. The first photo I saw of Halle and Jordan was Jordan riding Halle holding a Parelli flag at a lovely easy gait. Then the training just got better and better. Halle was a star on the pedestal, lung line, laying down. You name these two could do it. Jordan riding Halle bridle-less at the canter even over jumps. Again more than 300 hour of training was given to Halle Halle because of Jordan’s training she place 1st. in the youth division and Halle was adopted in short order. Halle’s new people have nothing but praise for Halle and her training. Because of Nancy’s and Jordan’s use of the Parelli Natural Horsemanship’s training program I am now sending them another one of our fosters. Once again GERL does not pay for training or board. I know that these two women will bring this boy from the darkness into the light. And believe me if and when I get a horse that needs proper training I will again lean on the Faulconer’s for help. This is a perfect win/win for Georgia Equine Rescue League and our horses.
